The action and fantasy film Sonic the Hedgehog 3 has achieved a record-breaking performance at the domestic box office, with its opening weekend earnings reaching $25.7 million from 3,761 theaters on Friday alone. It has been dubbed the “fastest living thing” in reference to both its speed and style within the film, as well as its rapid success at the box office.
Sonic the Hedgehog 3 features an unexpected alliance between Sonic (Ben Schwartz), Tails (Colleen O’Shaughnessey), and Knuckles (Idris Elba), along with Dr. Robotnik, as they face off against Keanu Reeves’ character, Shadow the Hedgehog.
During the film’s premiere in London, Associated Press asked Jim Carrey why he returned to the franchise after stating in 2022, following Sonic the Hedgehog 2, that he was considering retiring from acting.
Carrey replied, “I returned to this universe because, first and foremost, I play a genius, which is a bit of an exaggeration, but the truth is I bought a lot of things and I need the money, honestly.”
