A total of 106 polling stations were opened worldwide on Friday for the start of voting in the 2024 Presidential Elections for Egyptian expats, as stated by Ahmed Bendari, the Executive Director of the National Elections Authority (NEA).
Egyptians living abroad have been arriving at their respective embassies in large numbers to participate in the voting for the 2024 Presidential Elections. This includes the embassies of Egypt in various countries such as Japan, Germany, Saudi Arabia, the UAE, Italy, China, Singapore, Tunisia, Morocco, Qatar, Bahrain, and more.
The NEA has organized for 137 embassies and consulates in 121 countries to facilitate voting from 9am to 9pm on 1-3 December. Voting within Egypt will take place from 10-12 December, and the final results will be announced on 18 December if no run-off is required.
Furthermore, the National Elections Authority (NEA) announced on Thursday evening that its central operation room had commenced monitoring the voting process for Egyptians abroad in the 2024 Presidential Election.
The Ministry of Emigration estimated the number of Egyptians abroad at around 14 million citizens.
The presidential candidates are the current President, Abdel Fattah el-Sisi, who is running for a third term and whose electoral symbol bears a star; Farid Zahran, candidate of the opposition Social Democratic Party (SPD) and his electoral figure; Abdul Sindh Yamamah, the candidate of the Wafd party, who chose the palm tree as its electoral symbol, and Hazem Omar, the candidate of the Republican People’s Party, whose electoral symbol is Peace.
