Real Madrid achieved a historic milestone in La Liga after securing a valuable victory on Friday evening against Valencia, winning 2-1 in a rescheduled match from the 12th round of the league.

According to the Spanish newspaper Marca, Real Madrid has become the first team in the history of La Liga to surpass 5,000 points. The victory over Valencia marked this significant achievement.
The newspaper reported that the Royal Club has accumulated 5,002 points over 94 seasons, surpassing their arch-rivals Barcelona, who are in second place with 4,887 points over the same number of seasons. Atlético Madrid ranks third with 4,018 points from 88 seasons, ahead of Athletic Bilbao.
Marca added that Real Madrid has played 3,047 matches in La Liga, winning 1,833 of them, compared to Barcelona’s 1,771 victories. However, Barcelona leads in goals scored with 6,528 goals, two more than Real Madrid’s 6,526. Meanwhile, Barcelona has conceded fewer goals (3,379) compared to Real Madrid’s 3,395.
Real Madrid also holds the record as the first team to reach 100 points in a single La Liga season, achieved during the 2011-2012 campaign under Portuguese manager José Mourinho. That season, the club set another record by scoring 121 goals, a record that still stands to this day. Barcelona also reached 100 points the following season.
