By Sama Marwan,

Oil prices rose today by about 2%, reaching their highest levels in four months amid expectations that heavy U.S. sanctions on Russia’s oil sector will push both China and India to seek alternative suppliers.

Brent crude futures rose by $1.25 to settle at $81.01 per barrel.
Meanwhile, U.S. West Texas Intermediate (WTI) crude climbed by $2.25 to settle at $78.82 per barrel, according to the Oman News Agency.

The nearest-term futures contracts for both Brent and WTI have surged by more than 6% over the past three sessions.
