Know the Potential Ceasefire Agreement Between Israel and Hamas to End the War in Gaza

By Sama Marwan,

The world is closely watching the ongoing negotiations between Israeli occupation forces and Hamas to end the war in Gaza, which began on October 7, 2023.

Israeli media revealed progress in the ceasefire talks and a prisoner and hostage exchange deal, while Israel continues its genocidal war in Gaza, committing massacres for the 466th consecutive day.

The U.S.-based Axios website reported that Israeli Prime Minister Netanyahu informed President Biden of his desire to finalize the deal quickly in its current form and conclude the negotiations.

According to the report, Netanyahu agreed to new concessions regarding Palestinian prisoners who will be released. He also expressed willingness to withdraw from the Philadelphi Corridor and Netzarim Junction.

Phases of the Agreement (Expected Soon)

The deal will be implemented in three phases, as follows:

Phase 1 (42 Days)

  1. Temporary Ceasefire and Israeli Withdrawal:
    • Mutual suspension of military operations.
    • Israeli forces will withdraw from residential areas in Gaza to a border zone, including the Wadi Gaza (Netzarim Axis and Kuwait Square).
  2. Temporary Suspension of Air Activity:
    • Military and reconnaissance air operations will be suspended for 10 hours daily and 12 hours on days when hostages and prisoners are exchanged.
  3. Return of Displaced Civilians:
    • On the 7th day, after the release of seven detainees, Israeli forces will withdraw from Al-Rashid Street to Salah Al-Din Street, dismantling all military sites.
    • Displaced civilians will return to their homes without carrying weapons, and humanitarian aid will flow unhindered through Al-Rashid Street.
  4. Hostage and Prisoner Exchange:
    • Hamas will release 33 Israeli detainees (alive or deceased), including women, children, elderly, and injured civilians, in exchange for Palestinian prisoners held in Israeli jails.
    • Hamas’s Obligations:
      • Releases all civilian hostages (women and children under 19).
      • Releases female soldiers in exchange for 50 Palestinian prisoners per soldier.
    • Israel’s Obligations:
      • Releases 30 Palestinian women and children for every Israeli civilian freed.
  5. Timeline of Exchange:
    • Day 1: Hamas releases three Israeli civilians.
    • Day 7: Hamas releases four additional hostages.
    • Every subsequent seven days, Hamas will release three more hostages, starting with women.
    • By the 6th week, all hostages will be freed, and Israel will release Palestinian prisoners accordingly.
  6. Humanitarian Aid and Reconstruction:
    • 600 trucks of aid, including 50 fuel trucks, will enter Gaza daily.
    • Restoration of electricity, health services, water, and infrastructure will begin immediately.

Phase 2 (42 Days)

  1. Permanent Ceasefire Declaration:
    • A sustainable truce will be announced, with both sides committing to end military operations.
    • Israel will fully withdraw from Gaza, and Hamas will release all remaining Israeli captives.

Phase 3 (42 Days)

  1. Body Exchange:
    • Both sides will exchange bodies and remains of those killed during the war.
  2. Gaza Reconstruction (3-5 Years):
    • The rebuilding of homes, infrastructure, and public services in Gaza will begin under the supervision of Egypt, Qatar, and the United Nations.
  3. Lifting of Restrictions:
    • Border crossings will reopen, allowing freedom of movement for people and goods.

This comprehensive plan aims to end hostilities, ensure the return of hostages, and rebuild Gaza while addressing humanitarian concerns and preventing further escalations.
