Washington praises the leadership role of the King of Morocco in promoting regional and international peace and security

US Secretary of State Marco Rubio praised the leadership role of the Moroccan monarch, King Mohammed VI, in promoting regional and international peace and security.

In a statement issued following a phone call between the US Secretary of State and Minister of Foreign Affairs, African Cooperation and Moroccans Abroad, Nasser Bourita, the US Secretary of State highlighted the importance of the strategic partnership between Morocco and the United States for the benefit of regional and international peace and security.

The statement by the US State Department spokesperson indicated that the talks between the two sides also addressed matters related to the implementation of the ceasefire agreement in the Gaza Strip, the release of hostages, as well as the role played by Morocco in delivering humanitarian aid to the Palestinians.

The US Secretary of State also expressed the desire of the United States to intensify cooperation with Morocco, with the aim of advancing common interests in the region and putting an end to conflicts.

According to the US State Department statement, Rubio and Bourita stressed, during this conversation, the importance of strengthening trade and investment exchanges between the two countries, in a way that serves the interests of the two peoples.
