Manchester City, which includes Egyptian international Omar Marmoush, faces the risk of early elimination from the UEFA Champions League as they take on Belgian side Club Brugge at the Etihad Stadium this evening, Wednesday.
Manchester City vs. Club Brugge Match Time
The match between Manchester City and Club Brugge will kick off at 10:00 PM (Cairo time) on Wednesday at the Etihad Stadium as part of the eighth round of the Champions League league stage. The game will be broadcast live on beIN Sports HD 2.
Manchester City’s Standing Before the Club Brugge Match
Manchester City currently sits in 25th place in the Champions League standings with 8 points, while Club Brugge is in 20th place with 11 points.
Pep Guardiola’s team is outside the top 24 places that qualify for the Round of 16 after their collapse against Paris Saint-Germain in the previous round. This match is crucial for City, especially as Club Brugge is on track to secure a playoff spot for the Round of 16 following a goalless draw with Juventus in the last round.
What is the New UEFA Champions League Format for 2025?
The Champions League format has changed. Instead of the traditional group stage featuring 32 teams divided into 8 groups, the competition has shifted to a league format with 36 teams. Each team will face 8 different opponents based on the draw.
- The top 8 teams will qualify directly for the Round of 16.
- Teams ranked 9th to 24th will compete in a two-legged playoff, with the 8 winners advancing to join the top 8 in the Round of 16.
- The tournament will then continue in a knockout format, leading to a one-match final.

Omar Marmoush, Manchester City’s new signing, will miss the match as he is not registered in the team’s European squad. He is expected to be available from the knockout rounds, should City qualify.
Before the match, the Egyptian international will take part in a presentation ceremony at the Etihad Stadium alongside new signings Vitor Reis and Abdelkader Khosanov.
