Pakistan’s Prime Minister, Shehbaz Sharif, has welcomed the assumption of the presidency of the Syrian Arab Republic by Ahmad al-Shara during the transitional period. Sharif expressed his hope that the new leadership will be able to achieve peace, progress, and prosperity for the Syrian people.
In his first speech after assuming the presidency of Syria during the transitional period, Ahmad al-Shara announced the establishment of a “Preparatory Committee” for the National Dialogue Conference, in addition to forming an inclusive government that reflects Syria’s diversity without exclusion. He also pledged to achieve national reconciliation and complete the unity of Syrian territories.
In related developments, the transitional Syrian President Ahmad al-Shara arrived in the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia for his first official visit. It is expected that he will discuss with Saudi officials ways to support the transitional period in Syria and enhance bilateral relations between the two countries.
It is worth noting that these developments come at a sensitive time for Syria, as both the Syrian people and the international community seek to achieve stability and lasting peace in the country after years of conflict.
