The Turkish Ambassador to Cairo Salih Mutlu Şen attended the opening of the Denim and Jeans Exhibition held in Cairo on February 2-3, 2025.
The exhibition was opened by Ambassador Salih Mutlu Şen and Mr. Yasser Abbas, Vice President of the General Authority for Investment and Free Zones.
In the presence of the Chairman of the Board of Directors of the Istanbul Textile and Raw Materials Exporters Association (İTHİB), Ahmet Oksuz and Mustafa Denizer, Chairman of the Turkish-Egyptian Business Council of the Foreign Economic Relations Board of Turkey.
In his opening speech at the exhibition, which was held with the participation of about 55 companies from 10 countries, including 26 Turkish companies, Ambassador Salih Mutlu Şen said that the majority of denim production in Egypt is done by Turkish companies, and the two largest companies producing denim in Egypt are “Sharbaty” and “DNM”.
Ambassador Salih Mutlu Şen said that Turkish companies attach great importance to investment in Egypt, and that they are keen to grow in Egypt by reinvesting what they earn in Egypt, and the best evidence of this is that 26 companies out of about 55 participating companies in the exhibition participated in the exhibition are Turkish companies.
Ambassador Şen pointed out that other Turkish companies also produce jeans, and added that the most famous international brands buy jeans and blue jeans fabrics from Egypt, and that Turkish companies in Egypt are pioneers in the production of jeans and blue jeans fabrics and are constantly growing.
Ambassador Şen stressed that the mutually beneficial industrial and trade relations between Turkey and Egypt are most clearly evident in the textile sector, especially denim and clothing fabrics.
Ambassador Salih Mutlu Şen said that with the full support of President Recep Tayyip Erdoğan and President Abdel Fattah el-Sisi, the bilateral trade volume between Turkey and Egypt is expected to continue to increase to reach $10 billion this year and $15 billion in 5 years. Ambassador Salih Mutlu Şen stressed that bilateral dialogue and consultations on regional issues are continuing without interruption, noting that there is complete agreement between Turkey and Egypt towards the goal of regional stability and security for development and prosperity. He said that there may be high-level visits in the coming period for this purpose.
