Slovenian striker Nejc Gradišar of Al Ahly’s first football team delivered an outstanding performance, continuing his impressive run after his second appearance in the Red Devils’ jersey against Modern Sport.
The Slovenian forward contributed to 4 goals in 110 minutes played against Pyramids and Modern Sport, scoring two goals and providing two assists.
- He played for 65 minutes and received a rating of 8.8 out of 10, second only to Imam Ashour, who scored 9 out of 10.
- He scored one goal and provided two assists in Al Ahly’s 3-1 victory.
- He touched the ball 28 times, with a passing accuracy of 81%, completing 13 out of 16 passes.
- He won 3 ground duels and 1 aerial duel, and he took two shots, one of which was on target.
Al Ahly’s first football team won 3-1 against Modern Sport in round 11 of the league championship.
Gradišar and Imam Ashour (with two goals) scored for the Red Devils in the 13th, 29th, and 39th minutes.
Modern Sport’s goal came in the 75th minute, scored by Arnold Iba.
The team’s points total rose to 23, placing them second, just behind Pyramids at the top with 24 points.
First Half Events:
Al Ahly led 3-0 at halftime against Modern Sport.
The Red Devils opened the scoring in the 13th minute through Slovenian striker Nejc Gradišar, who received a pass from Hussein El Shahat and fired a shot from inside the penalty area. Modern Sport’s goalkeeper Mahmoud Gennesh failed to deal with the shot, and it found the back of the net.
Kareem El Dabbas almost scored for Al Ahly with a brilliant free-kick from just outside the penalty area, but his shot hit the crossbar in the 29th minute.
Imam Ashour scored the second goal for Al Ahly in the 29th minute after a mistake by Modern Sport’s defender Mahmoud Rizq. The ball reached Gradišar, who passed it to Ashour to slot it into the net.
Imam Ashour returned to score his second goal and the third for his team in the 39th minute after receiving an excellent cross from Gradišar, burying the ball past Gennesh.
Second Half Events:
Modern Sport started the second half more confidently, trying to close the gap and recover from the deficit.
In the 54th minute, Imam Ashour delivered a cross from the left side of the penalty area, which Gradišar met with a shot from the center of the box, but Modern Sport’s defense cleared it to a corner kick.
In the 62nd minute, Imam Ashour fired a powerful shot from the right side of the penalty area, which Gennesh saved by pushing it away from his left side.
Modern Sport reduced the deficit in the 75th minute after some good interplay between Abdullah Hafiz and Arnold Iba, who finished with a shot from the left side of the penalty area into the right side of the net.
In the 86th minute, a missed opportunity: Al Ahly’s Omar El Sayed skillfully dribbled past the right side of the penalty area and fired a powerful shot that hit the right post. Modern Sport’s defender Tarek Mohamed tried to clear the ball, but it bounced off the post again.
