A Western diplomat based in Cairo has revealed that Egypt has issued firm warnings to international and regional parties rejecting any plan to displace the people of Gaza, according to Associated Press (AP). The diplomat, who spoke anonymously, stated that Egypt’s diplomatic campaign has successfully stalled former U.S. President Donald Trump’s proposal so far.
Egypt’s Firm Stance on National Security & Palestinian Rights
According to the source, Egypt has intensified diplomatic efforts in recent days, viewing any forced displacement plan as a direct threat to its national security and a destruction of core Palestinian rights.
The AP report highlighted Egypt’s behind-the-scenes efforts to thwart Trump’s proposal, which calls for evacuating Gaza’s population. The agency also noted that, under a ceasefire agreement, Israel is set to withdraw from Gaza.
Diplomatic Campaign Against Forced Displacement
Egypt has privately reached out to:

✅ Tel Aviv’s European allies
These communications warned of the dangers of Trump’s proposal and reaffirmed Egypt’s opposition.
Consistent Opposition to Displacement Plans
AP reported that Egypt had previously rejected similar proposals from President Joe Biden’s administration and European governments at the start of the Gaza war in October 2023. However, those plans were discussed behind closed doors, whereas Trump openly unveiled his plan in a press conference with Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu last Tuesday.
Trump’s Plan Lacks Regional & Global Support
Trump’s proposal to expel Gaza’s residents has received no international or regional backing except from Israel. Meanwhile, U.S. officials have made statements aimed at calming global opposition to Trump’s controversial plan.
Egypt remains committed to blocking any forced displacement of Palestinians, emphasizing that the only solution is a sovereign Palestinian state.
