The Iranian Foreign Ministry has dismissed the recent accusations made by the G7 foreign ministers against Tehran regarding the destabilization of the West Asia region, calling them “irresponsible and baseless.”
Iranian Foreign Ministry spokesman, Esmail Baghaei, stated—according to the Iranian news agency IRNA on Monday—that achieving security and stability in the region requires an end to interventionist policies. He emphasized that Iran has the legal and legitimate right to defend its people and territorial integrity against any threat or aggression.
The spokesman stressed that Iran’s development of its defense and military capabilities is in accordance with international laws and is essential for maintaining national security and regional peace.
Regarding Iran’s nuclear program, he clarified that the country’s nuclear activities, including uranium enrichment, are aimed at meeting its technological and industrial needs. He reaffirmed that Iran remains committed to its international obligations and conducts its nuclear program in compliance with the Safeguards Agreement and the Treaty on the Non-Proliferation of Nuclear Weapons (NPT).
Baghaei further stated that “the main obstacle to establishing a nuclear-weapon-free Middle East is the Israeli occupation entity, which continues to develop weapons of mass destruction with the support of G7 nations, posing a threat to global security and peace.”
