On February 24, 2025, the third anniversary of the ongoing Russia-Ukraine war arrives, as former U.S. President Donald Trump has vowed to bring the conflict to an end soon.
Russia
Human Losses:
According to Ukrainian estimates, total Russian military losses since the beginning of the war amount to approximately 792,170 soldiers killed or wounded as of January 1, 2025.Financial Costs:
Russia’s military expenditures since the war began are estimated to have reached $320 billion, averaging around $320 million per day.
Ukraine
Human Losses:
Ukrainian military losses are estimated at over 100,000 soldiers killed or wounded.Economic Impact:
The Ukrainian economy contracted by nearly one-third in 2022, and the cost of reconstruction and recovery is estimated at $486 billion as of the end of December 2023.
International Support for Ukraine
Ukraine has received substantial financial and military assistance from Western countries.
As of March 2024, total aid to Ukraine amounted to $170 billion, with an additional $100 billion provided within the same year.
In February 2025, the European Union is in talks to approve an additional €20 billion ($20.9 billion) military aid package for Ukraine.
The war continues to impose severe economic and military burdens on both countries, while international efforts persist in seeking a peaceful resolution to the conflict.
