Amidst environmental and economic challenges facing the agricultural sector in Egypt, youth are emerging as a key force in promoting sustainable agriculture and increasing crop diversity. Sustainable agriculture is a comprehensive approach that considers social, economic, and environmental dimensions of food production. In this context, the “Shabab Betheb Masr” (Youth Love Egypt) initiative is actively working to raise awareness and provide training programs for young farmers, empowering them to adopt eco-friendly farming methods that enhance productivity.

Among the modern techniques adopted by young Egyptian farmers are precision agriculture and public-private partnerships. These innovations help increase crop yields and improve product quality, opening new opportunities for exports and boosting the local economy. Additionally, the integration of technology at various production stages reduces waste and enhances resource efficiency.

To further encourage youth participation in agriculture, the Food and Agriculture Organization (FAO) has launched the “Climate-Smart Agriculture” project. This initiative aims to train young farmers in using advanced techniques that adapt to climate change, thus promoting crop diversification and improving rural livelihoods.

Meanwhile, the Egyptian government is implementing a food security and agricultural innovation strategy, which includes developing and publishing a crop classification map tailored to different agricultural regions. This strategy aims to expand the coverage of diverse crops, thereby strengthening food security and promoting sustainable development.
