In a new positive development related to what the Moroccan monarch, King Mohammed VI, indicated that Morocco is in the stage of resolving the artificial conflict over the Moroccan Sahara, the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia expressed its continued support for the territorial integrity of the Kingdom of Morocco and the Moroccan Sahara, considering that the autonomy initiative presented by Morocco in 2007 constitutes the only solution to this regional conflict.
This position came on the occasion of the fourteenth session of the Moroccan-Saudi Joint Committee on Wednesday 5/3/2025 in Mecca, where the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia expressed its support for the Moroccan Sahara and its support for the autonomy initiative as the sole basis for resolving this regional conflict, within the framework of the sovereignty and territorial integrity of the Kingdom of Morocco.
The Kingdom of Saudi Arabia stressed that any solution to this regional conflict can only be within the sovereignty of the Kingdom of Morocco.
Thus, through its aforementioned position, the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia joins the many countries that stand by what Moroccans call their legal and historical right to all their national territory, including their southern provinces.
