French Defense Minister Sébastien Lecornu has announced that France will use profits from frozen Russian assets to fund an additional €195 million in military aid to Ukraine.
In an interview with the French newspaper La Tribune, published on Sunday, Lecornu stated that Paris will supply the Ukrainian army with old French military equipment, including tanks and advanced armored vehicles.
The minister added:
“Additionally, thanks to the accumulated profits from frozen Russian assets, we will allocate €195 million this year, enabling the supply of 155mm shells to Ukraine.”
Moscow responded swiftly, with Russian State Duma Chairman Vyacheslav Volodin declaring:
“In the end, you will have to take responsibility for your actions and return what has been stolen.”
