Former U.S. Democratic Congressman Dennis Kucinich stated on Tuesday that Russian President Vladimir Putin and former U.S. President Donald Trump are capable of reaching an agreement to establish cooperative relations between their countries.
Kucinich, co-founder of the Russian Caucus in Congress, told Russia’s TASS news agency that “this is an important step toward peace, and Presidents Trump and Putin can move beyond past differences and work toward a cooperative relationship. The world will benefit from all the efforts our two great nations make for peace.”
He described the phone call between the two leaders as a “good start.”
During their recent phone conversation, Putin and Trump discussed the idea of a 30-day ceasefire in Ukraine, ways to prevent further escalation, and various international issues. The Russian president also supported his American counterpart’s proposal that all parties in the Ukraine conflict refrain from targeting energy infrastructure facilities.
