The office of Armenian Prime Minister Nikol Pashinyan stated that between last Sunday and Tuesday, the Ministry of Defense of the Republic of Azerbaijan published six reports of alleged ceasefire violations by the armed forces of the Republic of Armenia on the border between the two countries. These reports were untrue, after the Ministry of Defense of the Republic of Armenia conducted inspections, which refuted the allegations of ceasefire violations.
The statement said that in each refuted report, the Ministry of Defense of the Republic of Armenia recalled the offer made by the Prime Minister’s Office on June 22, 2024, to establish a joint mechanism between Armenia and Azerbaijan to investigate ceasefire violations. Azerbaijan did not provide a positive response, although the Armenian Ministry of Defense is ready to investigate the facts supporting the Azerbaijani reports if they are conveyed to the Republic of Armenia.
The statement emphasized that the Armenian armed forces have no reason or order to violate the ceasefire, and that the government is guided by the peace agenda. The steps toward finalizing the text of the peace agreement and establishing relations between the two countries are undeniable evidence of this. The finalization of the text of the peace treaty and the conclusion of negotiations on its finalization are an extremely important step. Armenia calls on Azerbaijan to begin consultations on the date and venue for signing the agreement.
It noted that Armenia has conveyed to Azerbaijan in writing a proposal to resolve the issue of rail freight transportation from the western regions of Azerbaijan through Armenia to the Republic of Northern Armenia, in the opposite direction and to third countries, and from the northwestern regions of Armenia through Azerbaijan to the southern part of Armenia, in the opposite direction and to third countries. It also proposed establishing a bilateral mechanism for mutual arms control, and is awaiting a positive response from Azerbaijan.
Armenia affirmed its readiness to continue work on demarcating the international border with Azerbaijan in accordance with the regulations for joint activity of the Commission for the Delimitation and Security of the International Border between the two countries and the State Commission for the Delimitation of the Bilateral International Border.
