Concern in Liverpool as Alisson Becker Suffers Head Injury with Brazil

By Sama Marwan,

Brazilian goalkeeper Alisson Becker has sparked concern at Liverpool after sustaining a head injury while playing for his national team against Colombia in the 2026 FIFA World Cup qualifiers for South America.

The 32-year-old shot-stopper collided heavily with defender Davinson Sánchez, leading to his substitution in the 70th minute under the concussion protocol.

According to Brazil’s team doctor, Rodrigo Lasmar, Alisson will undergo extensive medical examinations, including CT scans and MRI tests, to determine the severity of his injury.

Lasmar confirmed that while Alisson did not lose consciousness, he experienced a slight delay in responsiveness, prompting his precautionary withdrawal. The goalkeeper will remain under observation in the coming days to assess his availability for Brazil’s upcoming match against Argentina.

Liverpool fans are anxiously awaiting updates on Alisson’s condition, fearing that his absence from Premier League matches could be a major setback for the team during this crucial period.

Brazil secured a 2-1 victory over Colombia in Brasília on Friday, as part of Matchday 13 in the South American World Cup qualifiers.

Currently, Brazil sits second in the CONMEBOL standings with 21 points, trailing leaders Argentina by four points. Meanwhile, Colombia is in sixth place with 19 points, six points behind Argentina at the top.
