The official website of the English Premier League has highlighted the outstanding performances of Egyptian international Mohamed Salah, a Liverpool star, and his strong chances of winning the Ballon d’Or.
At the beginning of the report, BBC sports journalist Alex Keble described Mohamed Salah as the best player in the world right now.
Speaking to the Premier League’s official website, Keble stated: “The most surprising and unusual aspect of the 2024-25 Premier League season is that one footballer stands out significantly above all others.”
He added that Salah is on track to break multiple records, particularly the highest number of goal contributions in a single 38-game Premier League season. Currently, he is level with Erling Haaland at 44 goal contributions (27 goals and 17 assists).
Keble further noted, “He is expected to surpass this record in the next nine matches and will likely secure the four additional assists needed to break the all-time assist record of 20, currently held by Thierry Henry (2002-03) and Haaland (2019-20).”
He continued, “Without a doubt, he is the best player in the Premier League and, at this moment, the best player in the world.”
Keble emphasized that Salah’s only real competition comes from Kylian Mbappé and Real Madrid’s Vinícius Júnior, both widely considered top contenders for this year’s Ballon d’Or. However, neither player comes close to Salah’s statistics this season.
