By Sama Marwan,

Huawei has announced the launch of its new FreeBuds 6 wireless earbuds alongside its foldable smartphone, Pura X. The earbuds feature a redesigned, lighter build compared to previous models, with each earbud weighing approximately 4.9 grams, while the charging case weighs around 40.3 grams. The earbuds are ergonomically designed based on data collected from a diverse range of ear shapes, ensuring comfortable long-term wear.

The FreeBuds 6 utilize an 11mm dynamic driver paired with a small tilted speaker, delivering an immersive audio experience. They can produce sounds across a 14 Hz to 48 kHz frequency range. Huawei highlights that this semi-open design is the first of its kind, incorporating dual audio units that support high-quality 48 kHz / 24-bit sound. The earbuds also automatically adjust audio output based on their fit in the user’s ear, ensuring exceptional sound quality in different conditions.

The FreeBuds 6 have been fine-tuned by the Central Conservatory of Music, offering multiple sound profiles, including classic and balanced modes. They also support spatial audio technology with head-tracking capabilities. The earbuds are equipped with advanced microphones that effectively reduce noise and wind interference, achieving a noise reduction level of up to 95 dB thanks to the semi-open noise cancellation feature, enhancing call clarity in noisy environments.

Battery life extends up to 36 hours when used with the charging case, while a five-minute charge provides up to 2.5 hours of playback. The smart charging technology increases battery lifespan by 37%, reducing the need for frequent recharging. The earbuds support touch controls for easy music playback, call management, and volume adjustments.

Additionally, the FreeBuds 6 include Huawei’s AI-powered smart assistant, Celia, offering real-time translation in 21 languages and long-range tracking with an accuracy of up to 50 meters. They also support Bluetooth 5.2, ensuring fast, stable connections with multi-device pairing. The earbuds are IP54 water-resistant, making them suitable for daily use in various conditions.

Huawei plans to launch the FreeBuds 6 in China at a price of approximately $138, with initial sales starting on March 20, 2025, and full market availability by March 28, 2025.
