Egypt’s national team ended the first half of their 2026 World Cup qualifier against Sierra Leone with a 1-0 lead, thanks to a stoppage-time goal by Ahmed Sayed “Zizo.”
Egypt started the match with intense pressure, aiming to break through Sierra Leone’s defense early.
In the 5th minute, Trezeguet fired a powerful shot from outside the box, but it missed the target. Despite multiple attempts, Egypt lacked precision in the final touch.
Mohamed Salah also had a chance from the edge of the penalty area, but his shot flew over the crossbar.
In the 21st minute, Sierra Leone’s Samadia took a long-range shot, but it went off target. Moments later, a dangerous cross into Egypt’s box was barely cleared by defender Mohamed Abdelmonem.
Egypt came close to scoring in the 44th minute when Omar Marmoush struck a powerful shot from outside the area, narrowly missing the right post.
Finally, in stoppage time, Egypt broke the deadlock when Trezeguet delivered a brilliant pass to Zizo, who went one-on-one with the goalkeeper and slotted the ball into the bottom right corner.
