Former U.S. President Donald Trump has intensified his rhetoric against Russia, threatening to impose secondary tariffs ranging from 25% to 50% on Russian crude oil if no agreement on Ukraine is reached.
A Warning to Putin
In a recent interview with NBC News, Trump expressed frustration over the prolonged conflict, accusing Russian President Vladimir Putin of obstructing peace efforts. He emphasized that these tariffs could be enforced within a month if Moscow fails to cooperate.
“If no deal is made, and I believe Russia is to blame, I will impose significant tariffs to force action,” Trump stated.
Battlefield Updates from Ukraine
Meanwhile, the Ukrainian General Staff reported 143 combat clashes between Ukrainian defense forces and Russian troops in the past 24 hours along the front lines. The fiercest battles took place in the strategic Pokrovsk sector, where Russia launched five guided aerial bombs and carried out 155 artillery strikes.
A Broader Global Strategy
Beyond Russia, Trump also issued a stern warning to Iran, threatening military action and increased tariffs if Tehran does not cooperate with Washington on its nuclear program.
These latest developments mark a turning point in U.S. foreign policy, signaling a more aggressive approach toward geopolitical adversaries. Will these threats lead to diplomatic breakthroughs, or escalate tensions further? The world watches closely.
