Youth Lead Community Cleanup to Revitalize Local Park

By Sama Marwan,

In a heartwarming display of initiative and teamwork, more than 70 young volunteers gathered last weekend to clean up Al-Nour Public Park, transforming it from a neglected space into a vibrant hub for families and children.

Organized by the youth-led group Green Tomorrow, the cleanup campaign brought together students, scouts, local artists, and even parents. Volunteers spent the day collecting litter, repainting benches, planting flowers, and setting up a mural wall for public art.

“We wanted to show that youth can make a real difference,” said 17-year-old organizer Leila Mansour. “This park is a part of our childhood, and we wanted to give something back.”

The initiative was supported by the local municipality, which provided tools, paint, and refreshments. Local businesses also pitched in, donating snacks and planting supplies.

City Councilmember Ahmad Khoury praised the effort, saying:

“This kind of community spirit gives us hope. When young people take the lead, it inspires everyone.”

Plans are underway to host a monthly “Park Day” where families can join in keeping the space clean, hosting storytelling circles, and organizing sports events. The next event will include a youth talent showcase and a free book corner.
