United Nations: Israel’s Closure of Gaza Crossings Raises Fears of Collective Punishment and Starvation of Civilians

By Sama Marwan,

The United Nations has confirmed that Israel is subjecting Palestinians in Gaza to conditions that undermine their continued existence in the strip. According to Cairo News Channel, collective punishment and the starvation of civilians in the Gaza Strip are considered crimes under international law.

The UN stated that Israel’s closure of Gaza’s crossings raises serious concerns about collective punishment and the deliberate starvation of civilians. It also emphasized that Israel is intentionally targeting civilians who are not directly participating in hostilities—an act considered a war crime.

Additionally, the World Health Organization (WHO) confirmed that medical supplies in Gaza are critically low due to the ongoing blockade and the restriction on humanitarian aid entering the region.
