President Abdel Fattah El-Sisi and Emir Tamim bin Hamad Al Thani, the Emir of the State of Qatar, will hold bilateral talks tomorrow, Monday, in the Qatari capital, Doha.
Expanded talks will also take place tomorrow between officials from both countries, with the participation of President El-Sisi and the Emir of Qatar.
The discussions between the two leaders will focus on ways to strengthen bilateral cooperation across various fields and to discuss regional developments, particularly regarding the Palestinian cause and ongoing efforts to achieve a ceasefire in the Gaza Strip.
President El-Sisi is also scheduled to meet this evening (Sunday) with representatives of the Qatari business community in Doha to explore opportunities for economic cooperation.
President El-Sisi arrived earlier today (Sunday) in Doha, beginning a Gulf tour that includes both Qatar and Kuwait. Emir Tamim bin Hamad Al Thani personally received the president at Hamad International Airport.
This visit comes as a culmination of the growing relationship between Egypt and Qatar since 2021. Emir Tamim visited Cairo in June 2022, followed by President El-Sisi’s visit to Doha in September 2022, during which three memoranda of understanding were signed in the fields of ports and social affairs, as well as a MoU for cooperation between Egypt’s Sovereign Fund and the Qatar Investment Authority.
By the end of 2024, trade exchange between the two countries reached approximately $205 million, while Qatari investments in Egypt totaled around $5.5 billion.
Following his visit to Qatar, President El-Sisi will head to Kuwait, the second stop on his Gulf tour. This visit aims to affirm the depth of strategic relations between the two brotherly nations and their mutual commitment to expanding economic and investment cooperation.
In Kuwait, the President is scheduled to meet with:
- His Highness Sheikh Mishal Al-Ahmad Al-Jaber Al-Sabah, the Emir of Kuwait,
- Sheikh Sabah Khaled Al-Hamad Al-Sabah, the Crown Prince,
- Sheikh Fahd Youssef Saud Al-Sabah, First Deputy Prime Minister, Minister of Interior, and Acting Prime Minister.
