UN in Egypt: Youth Empowerment a Priority for a Promising Future

By Sama Marwan,

The United Nations Population Fund (UNFPA) in Egypt continues its dedicated efforts to promote youth rights and create a supportive environment that enables young people to reach their full potential, express themselves freely, and live in a society free from poverty, discrimination, and violence.

As part of its vision to empower the new generation, the agency has launched numerous initiatives and projects aimed at developing the skills of young men and women, equipping them with the knowledge and tools needed to succeed and participate positively in their communities.

Among the most notable initiatives is the “Noura Framework,” which focuses on supporting adolescent girls and strengthening their social, health, and economic capacities. In addition, Population Awareness Clubs, spread across all Egyptian governorates, engage thousands of youth volunteers in creative awareness activities through theatre and music.

Recently, the agency launched the “Inclusive Internship Program 2025,” which provides opportunities for youth from diverse backgrounds—including persons with disabilities and refugees—to gain valuable professional experience and enhance their integration into the labor market.

In a significant step toward youth-friendly services, the agency is implementing a comprehensive community outreach strategy aimed at raising awareness about reproductive health and improving access to safe and reliable services, particularly for marginalized groups.

The agency affirms that investing in youth is an investment in Egypt’s future, and that empowering and building their capacities is the cornerstone of creating a safer and more prosperous society.
