Chinese Foreign Ministry spokesperson Guo Jiakun stated on Thursday that his country has not held any consultations or negotiations with the United States regarding issues related to tariffs.
According to the Chinese news agency Xinhua, Guo made these remarks during a press conference in response to recent reports from the United States suggesting that the two countries are negotiating and may soon reach an agreement on the tariff issue.
Guo emphasized that all such reports are false, adding that it was the U.S. that initiated the tariff war with China, and that China’s position has always been firm and clear.
He said, “We will fight if a battle is imposed on us, and our doors are open if the U.S. wants dialogue,” stressing that China only seeks dialogue and negotiation based on equality, respect, and mutual benefit.
