Iran’s First Vice President, Mohammad Reza Aref, issued urgent orders today (Saturday) calling for swift and comprehensive action to investigate the massive explosion that occurred at Shahid Rajaee Port in Bandar Abbas, located on the Arabian Gulf in western Iran.
According to the English version of Iran’s IRNA news agency, Aref made a phone call following the explosion to Mohammad Ashouri, the Governor of Hormozgan Province, where the incident took place. He instructed the authorities to conduct a thorough and immediate investigation into the exact cause of the explosion and the extent of the damage, emphasizing the importance of supporting the injured and providing care for the families of the victims.
He stressed the necessity of enhancing safety protocols across all ports and industrial facilities in Hormozgan Province to prevent similar incidents in the future, and he directed the authorities to implement strict measures to minimize risks and safeguard operations.
In a separate call with the head of the Iranian Red Crescent Society, Pir Hossein Kolivand, Aref urged the organization to mobilize all available relief resources to assist the victims and ensure the swift transfer of the injured to medical centers for treatment.
