Minister of Transport Kamel El Wazir discussed with Shaba Toro, Chairman of the Hungarian Ganz Ma-Vag Company, the schedule of delivering 1,350 coaches to the Egyptian National Railways Authority (ENRA).
They reviewed the handover of 848 coaches and the scheduled time of delivering the rest.
They also discussed the Hungarian company’s plan to increase local components in Egypt as part of the transport ministry’s plan to support local industries.
Minister Wazir said the deal is one of the fruits of huge contracts implemented under the auspices of President Abdel Fattah El Sisi to back the local industry in line with the most up-to-date technological methods.
The deal comes within the framework of the agreement concluded between the Ministry of Transport represented by the Egyptian National Railways Authority and the Hungarian Ganz Ma-Vag company to manufacture and supply the rest of the remaining coaches out of the total deal of 1,350 new railway coaches, which is considers the biggest deal in the history of ENR, the minister had said in previous statements.
The deal of (1,350) new railway coaches consists of 850 air-conditioned coaches (500 third-class air-conditioned coaches which are made available to passengers for the first time in the history of ENR, 50 third-class air-conditioned buffet coaches, 180 luxurious second-class coaches, 90 luxurious first-class coaches and 30 air-conditioned buffet coaches), in addition to 500 third-class coaches with dynamic ventilation.
