Exchange of Fire Between India and Pakistan in Kashmir Leaves Dead and Injured

By Sama Marwan,

Reports from Pakistan on Saturday confirmed that 11 civilians were killed and 56 others injured in the Pakistani-administered part of Kashmir due to Indian shelling on areas along the Line of Control (LoC) that divides the region.

Mazhar Saeed, Minister of Information for Azad Jammu and Kashmir, told reporters — as cited by Samaa TV — that civilians in border villages, especially those in Neelum Valley, were targeted by the shelling, which led to casualties and widespread panic among residents.

In a related development, Pakistan’s Minister of Information, Attaullah Tarar, stated that Pakistan had launched retaliatory strikes on 26 sites inside India. He noted that the decision to carry out the strikes was made in self-defense, and that Pakistan’s strong response was in accordance with Article 51 of the UN Charter.
