Vula Tsetsi, the co-president of the European Green Party, spoke about the situation in Gaza in an interview with the Spanish newspaper El Orden, stating:
“We cannot turn a blind eye to what’s happening in Gaza. This is not just a political issue — it is a matter of conscience.”
Tsetsi added:
“We must raise our voices and acknowledge that double standards are unacceptable. Our party is increasingly expressing a unified stance, as we’ve done at various conferences. This is more than a political issue — it is a moral one. If we want to be a credible voice within the European Union, we cannot ignore what’s happening in Gaza. The lack of access to food, the killing of innocent people, and attacks on hospitals — all of this is unacceptable. What’s worse is that Netanyahu feels empowered thanks to Donald Trump’s support.”
She continued:
“We are committed to pressuring Netanyahu and other individuals involved through the International Criminal Court. We want to see consequences for their actions. If the European Union continues to speak without taking action, we will face a serious problem.”
Tsetsi pointed out that there are several steps that need to be taken, including the importance of revisiting the EU-Israel Association Agreement.
“We’re currently discussing what should be done with it — and I believe we’ll either freeze it or at least revise it. There’s also the issue of arms sales; some countries continue to sell weapons to Israel. This must end. We can no longer support Netanyahu’s actions.”
The European Green Party has previously called for the implementation of the arrest warrant issued by the International Criminal Court against Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu, urging that he be detained in Hungary and tried in The Hague, back in April.
Tsetsi also accused Hungarian Prime Minister Viktor Orbán of violating EU treaties and commitments, noting that his ties with Russia and his continued use of the veto power to block EU support for Ukraine, along with his blackmail tactics, are further evidence of his loyalty to Trump and Putin rather than to the European Union.
