Italy Sends Two Planes to Evacuate 14 Palestinian Children for Medical Treatment

Two Italian aircraft are scheduled to depart Pisa Airport today, Tuesday, heading to the occupied Palestinian territories to evacuate 14 Palestinian children along with their companions, according to the Italian news agency Nova.

According to Nova, the Head of the Civil Protection Department, Fabio Curcio, stated at the end of a Civil Protection Operations Committee meeting held this morning in Rome:

“This is a medical evacuation mission coordinated by the Civil Protection Department, with the support of the World Health Organization (WHO), the European Civil Protection Mechanism, and the Ministries of Foreign Affairs and Health. It is a highly developed system fully equipped to provide relief and to welcome children in need of assistance on our soil. They will arrive in Italy via two airports, from where they will be transferred to their final destinations.”

The 14 Palestinian children are expected to arrive tomorrow evening at Pratica di Mare and Sigonella airports. Afterwards, they will be transferred to hospitals in seven Italian regions:

  • Veneto

  • Lombardy

  • Emilia-Romagna

  • Tuscany

  • Lazio

  • Campania

  • Sicily

The operation highlights Italy’s humanitarian role and coordinated efforts to provide urgent medical aid to children affected by the crisis in Gaza.
