Russian Ambassador to Egypt: The West Is Repeating Napoleon and Hitler’s Mistakes – Russia Will Not Back Down

By Sama Marwan,

On Thursday, June 12, the Russian Federation celebrates its National Day, an annual event of deep significance in Russian collective memory, commemorating the major historical transformations the country has undergone since the early 1990s.

On this occasion, Russian Ambassador to Egypt, Georgy Borisenko, delivered a message of congratulations to Russian citizens residing in Egypt and to Moscow’s friends of various nationalities. He emphasized the importance of this day as a reminder of Russia’s long and rich history, particularly since the foundation of the Russian state in the 9th century, when the city of Kyiv—now the capital of Ukraine—was the center of Russian governance.

Russia Resists Invaders and Preserves Its Global Standing

The ambassador noted that throughout its history, Russia has repeatedly faced invasions and attempts to fragment the nation, incurring heavy losses, including vast territorial concessions. Despite this, the Russian people managed to reclaim their power and position on the global stage and played a key role in liberating other nations from colonial rule, particularly in Africa and Asia during the Soviet era.

Borisenko stated:

“Just as we confronted France under Napoleon and Germany under Hitler, today we face the same European powers seeking dominance and violating the sovereignty of other states. NATO has been pushed to our borders, and the Ukrainian people are being used as a tool to attack Russia.”

He added:

“Ukraine, which was separated from Russia by chance, is being transformed into a platform of aggression targeting our nation. This compels us, once again, to defend our national security and our right to self-determination.”

Defending Civilizational Values and Traditions

The ambassador asserted that Russia is not only defending its territory but also standing up for the right of all nations to uphold their cultural and religious values, free from foreign dictates.

“We are confronting a barrage of Western weaponry—missiles, aircraft, and tanks—targeting Russian cities. But at the same time, we are defending pluralism and the right to sovereignty.”

Partnership with Egypt and Support for the Palestinian Cause

Borisenko also emphasized the strength of Russian-Egyptian relations, calling Egypt a “trusted partner” in the Middle East. He noted that the two countries cooperate on numerous issues, including supporting the Palestinian cause, which he described as suffering from “ongoing aggression carried out with the complicity of Western powers and the use of their weapons.”

He said:

“We work hand-in-hand with our Arab partners to achieve justice for Palestine, which has endured decades of oppression and occupation.”

BRICS and the Shift Toward a Multipolar World

The ambassador concluded his message by affirming that Russia is working to strengthen international cooperation through alternative frameworks, foremost among them the BRICS group, which includes a number of rising global powers.

“We view BRICS as a prototype for a multipolar world order based on mutual respect and fair cooperation among nations.”

He added:

“We are convinced that through the joint efforts of countries that reject domination and seek global balance, we can build a fairer world and improve living conditions on Earth.”
