Demanding an Emergency Meeting: A Letter from Araghchi to the Security Council

By Sama Marwan,

Iranian Foreign Minister Abbas Araghchi sent a letter addressed to the President of the UN Security Council and the UN Secretary-General regarding the Zionist military aggression against Iran. In the letter, he called for an emergency meeting of the Security Council and stated:

The Council must assume its responsibilities under the Charter, strongly condemn this aggression, and take immediate and concrete steps to hold the Israeli entity accountable.

In his message, Araghchi described this hostile act as a declaration of war against the Islamic Republic of Iran, urging the Security Council to address the matter immediately.
This comes after the military assault launched by the Israeli entity on multiple locations in Iran, including military bases, nuclear facilities, and residential buildings, which led to the martyrdom and injury of several military commanders, university professors, women, and innocent Iranian children, according to Tasnim News Agency.

In the letter, the Foreign Minister stressed that the Israeli entity’s attacks represent a blatant violation of Iran’s sovereignty and territorial integrity as an independent state and a UN member, and that it constitutes a clear act of aggression against Iran.

He also reaffirmed Iran’s determination to defend itself in accordance with Article 51 of the United Nations Charter.
