Mohamed Anwar El-Sadat: Egypt Managed the Israeli-Palestinian Conflict Wisely and Without Risky Ventures

By Sama Marwan,

MP Mohamed Anwar El-Sadat, head of the Reform and Development Party, affirmed that Egypt managed the Israeli-Palestinian conflict and the assault on Gaza—following Hamas’ attack on Israel—with wisdom and without reckless actions that could have cost both Egypt and the Palestinians dearly.

El-Sadat emphasized that Egypt did all it could on the political and diplomatic fronts, as well as in mobilizing international and humanitarian support.

He added that Egypt played the role of mediator, worked on finding solutions, and facilitated hostage exchanges—being central to all of these efforts. However, he cautioned that calls for escalation and direct confrontation are not in anyone’s interest, especially considering Egypt’s peace treaty with Israel, which must be respected.

Mohamed Anwar El-Sadat explained that the Egyptian state is fully aware of the threats it faces and is fully prepared to respond to any dangers. He added, “Egypt is actively working on securing itself and is not remaining silent. Those criticizing Egypt for blocking the ‘Resilience Convoy’ coming from Libya should understand that although the convoy may have had a humanitarian purpose, it could have led to problems. We’ve seen examples of security breaches in Iran and the spread of spies.”

These comments came during his interview on the television program “Hadith Al-Qahira” (Cairo Talk) with journalist Ibrahim Eissa, aired on the Al Kahera Wal Nas channel.
