Mbappé out of Real Madrid clash against Pachuca in Club World Cup

By Sama Marwan ,

Real Madrid and their coach Xabi Alonso have suffered another blow after it was confirmed that French star Kylian Mbappé will miss their upcoming match against Mexico’s Pachuca, scheduled for next Sunday in the second round of the Club World Cup group stage.

Despite improvements in his condition following a hospital stay, Mbappé is still far from full fitness, according to the program El Chiringuito, which stated that the player may not return to peak form for at least another ten days.

As a result, Mbappé will be completely absent from Sunday’s match and won’t even be on the bench. However, there is a growing chance he could play a few minutes in the match against Red Bull Salzburg later on, in preparation for the round of 16 if the team qualifies.

Although the player’s absence is significant, the coaching staff, led by Xabi Alonso, believes that advancing through the group stage without the team’s star player is still achievable—especially given that they will avoid facing top teams at this stage.

Mbappé was recently hospitalized after suffering from a severe case of gastroenteritis, a common condition that affects the digestive system and causes symptoms such as nausea, fever, and fatigue. His health condition led to his absence from the team’s last training session, and he also missed the match against Saudi side Al-Hilal in Real Madrid’s opening game of the 2025 Club World Cup, which ended in a 1-1 draw.

Real Madrid had previously stated that Mbappé underwent thorough medical tests at the hospital and received appropriate treatment under the supervision of the club’s medical staff.
