Iranian President: Washington Is the Main Driver Behind Israeli Attacks

By Sama Marwan ,

Iranian President Masoud Pezeshkian stated that the U.S. attacks reflect Washington’s involvement in Israeli hostilities, affirming that the United States is the main driver behind these attacks, according to a breaking news report by Cairo News Channel.

U.S. President Donald Trump had announced that the United States carried out strikes on Iranian nuclear facilities, with the goal of destroying Tehran’s uranium enrichment capabilities and eliminating the nuclear threat.

In a press conference at the White House on Sunday, Trump said that Iran’s nuclear facilities had been “completely destroyed,” adding that there were additional targets in Iran that had not yet been attacked.

The U.S. president warned that any future attacks would be far greater unless peace is achieved, stressing that “Iran now faces a choice: peace or tragedy.”

On the morning of Friday, June 13, Israel launched a surprise airstrike against Iran in an operation called “Rising Lion”, targeting military sites and nuclear facilities, most notably the main uranium enrichment facility in Natanz. The strike resulted in the killing of several nuclear scientists, senior military commanders, and Iranian officials, including:

  • Hossein Salami, Commander of the Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps (IRGC)

  • Mohammad Bagheri, Chief of Staff of the Iranian Armed Forces

  • Amir Ali Hajizadeh, Commander of the IRGC Aerospace Force
