Global star Brad Pitt has revealed the reason why director Quentin Tarantino is not directing The Adventures of Cliff Booth, a spin-off of Once Upon a Time in Hollywood. The film, which will be released on Netflix, is directed by David Fincher, even though Tarantino is writing the script.
The film also stars Carla Gugino, Yahya Abdul-Mateen II, Elizabeth Debicki, and Scott Caan.
Pitt explained why Tarantino chose not to direct, telling Deadline:
“This is a work written by Quentin Tarantino. It’s a standalone piece, not a sequel, based on a character from Once Upon a Time in Hollywood. He didn’t want to direct it at this stage, so our friend David Fincher stepped in.”
Pitt added: “We’ll start filming in July, and it’s going to be a lot of fun.”
According to a report by The Playlist, the film — which was announced earlier this year — is expected to have a budget of $200 million, with Tarantino reportedly earning $20 million for the screenplay.
