PM, Italian delegation discuss luring new investments in food production

Prime Minister Mostafa Madbouli discussed in a meeting with a delegation of Italian companies the possibility of luring new investments in food production.

The Italian delegation comprised Federico Vecchioni, the CEO of Bonifica dei Terreni Ferraresi, Alberto Antolini, the CEO of Ocrim and Luigi Scordamaglia, the head of Filiera Italia, said Spokesman for the Cabinet Mohamed El Humosani.

The meeting, held at the New Administrative Capital, was attended by Minister of Supply and Internal Trade Ali Moselhi, Italy’s Ambassador in Cairo Michele Quaroni, Major General Khaled Salah, a representative of the Future of Egypt for Sustainable Development Authority.

The premier lauded Italy’s advanced technologies that can add considerable value to land reclamation projects, especially as the country seeks to cultivate three million feddans in the next years to achieve food security.

On his part, the Italian ambassador commended the Egyptian government’s willingness to implement those projects and advance Italian investments in Egypt.

The spokesman noted that the meeting took up the establishment of Egyptian-Italian partnerships in land reclamation and crop cultivation, with the use of advanced Italian techniques in the field of irrigation and seeds and productivity’s improvement, in cooperation with the Future of Egypt for Sustainable Development Authority.

The two sides also probed the establishment of a number of flour mill production lines in cooperation with the supply ministry.
