The Kremlin confirmed that Russian President Vladimir Putin and former U.S. President Donald Trump are currently engaged in a phone conversation.

Earlier today, U.S. President Donald Trump announced that he would be speaking with Russian President Vladimir Putin.

Russian media also reported that President Vladimir Putin would be holding a phone call with President Donald Trump.

The two leaders last spoke on June 4th, marking their fourth phone conversation since Trump took office. During that call, they discussed developments in the Ukrainian crisis. Putin presented the outcomes of talks held in Istanbul with the Ukrainian side and commented on what he described as “terrorist” attacks carried out by Kyiv.

Yuri Ushakov, an aide to the Russian president, later stated that the call also touched on a number of other issues.

The most recent conversation between Putin and Trump lasted one hour and ten minutes, during which they discussed bilateral relations and ways to resolve the conflict in Ukraine, including the idea of signing memorandums of understanding between Moscow and Kyiv to clarify each side’s positions regarding the possibility of reaching a ceasefire.

The two previous calls took place on February 12 and March 18, focusing on efforts to normalize relations between Moscow and Washington, as well as various aspects of the Ukrainian crisis.
