Ambassador Hiro Mustafa Garge, the U.S. Ambassador to Egypt, said after the High Electoral Commission announced the result of the Egyptian elections that the United States and its embassy team in Cairo look forward to continuing their strong partnership with President Abdel Fattah al-Sisi.
She explained, according to a statement by the U.S. Embassy in Cairo, that the relationship between the United States and Egypt includes a full range of common priorities, including promoting regional stability and security, deepening economic and trade relations, and strengthening people-to-people and cultural ties between Americans and Egyptians.
Ambassador Garge continued: We are grateful for the leadership role played by Egypt during the current regional crisis, and we will work steadily with President Sisi and the Egyptian government to achieve a just, lasting and secure peace.
The National Elections Authority announced that President Abdel Fattah al-Sisi won a third presidential term on Monday with 89.6 percent of the vote, confirming that the turnout in the presidential elections is 66.8 percent of the vote.
President Sisi received 39,702,451 votes, equivalent to 89.6% of the total valid votes, in the three-day elections held from December 10 to 12.
