Ambassador Christian Berger, Head of the European Union Delegation in Cairo, welcomed President Abdel Fattah El-Sisi’s victory for the third term as president of Egypt, praising the holding of elections at this current time despite the surrounding unrest.
Berger pointed out that the European Council in Brussels issued a statement congratulating President Sisi on his election victory as an important point for continuing the cooperation that began over the past years.
Ambassador Christian Berger, head of the European Union delegation in Cairo, confirmed that the year 2023 witnessed more intense engagement with Egypt than before in all areas of economic, commercial and social cooperation.
Berger said that the matter is not limited only to international meetings, but even high-level visits and civil society initiatives.
He pointed to cooperation with Egypt in the fields of defense and security, such as the Counter-Terrorism Forum after Egypt took over the presidency from Morocco this year.
