The European Union Ambassador to Cairo praises relations with Egypt in various fields

The European Union Ambassador to Cairo, Ambassador Christian Berger, praised the relations between the Union and Egypt in various fields, and the close coordination between the two sides regarding many issues of common concern.

During the annual press conference, which he held today, Wednesday, Berger reviewed: On the occasion of the approaching end of 2023 – aspects of cooperation between Egypt and the European Union in all fields, as well as priorities for cooperation between the two sides during the coming period.

He pointed out that the current year 2023 witnessed many visits by senior European Union officials to Egypt, including the High Representative for Foreign and Security Policy of the European Union, Josep Borrell, the President of the European Council, the President of the European Commission, and many commissioners and Union officials.

The European Ambassador highlighted the cooperation between Egypt and the Union in many fields, especially the water sector, referring in this regard to Cairo Water Week, which was held at the end of last October.

He stressed that Egypt has become a center for dialogue and knowledge regarding water issues, noting that on the sidelines of Water Week, a memorandum of understanding was signed for cooperation between Egypt and the European Union in the water sector and the exchange of experiences and information in this field.

The Ambassador highlighted the current joint presidency of Egypt and the European Union of the Global Counter-Terrorism Forum (2023-2025).

Regarding economic cooperation, the ambassador praised the relations between the two sides regarding trade and investment, noting the increase in Egyptian gas exports to European Union countries this year.

Berger revealed that a conference on investment will be organized next year. To highlight the advantages of investing in Egypt for European businessmen.
