The Board of Governors of the Global Research Council, at its meeting, unanimously agreed to host the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia for the annual meeting in 2025 as a main host in the city of Riyadh, and the Republic of Turkey represented by the Council for Scientific and Technical Research as a partner host, according to the procedure followed by the Council.
The Kingdom’s hosting of this is the first hosting of the Global Research Council in the Middle East and North Africa region since the Council’s establishment in 2012, which confirms the Kingdom’s high position in the fields of research, development and innovation at the regional and global levels and is consistent with the Kingdom’s Vision 2030, in light of the unprecedented support provided by it. The research, development and innovation sector is witnessed by King Salman bin Abdulaziz Al Saud and Prince Mohammed bin Salman bin Abdulaziz Al Saud, Crown Prince, Prime Minister and Chairman of the Supreme Committee for Research, Development and Innovation.
The joint file outperformed the competition’s main elements, represented by proposing modern topics that are compatible with the global scientific movement and in line with the ambitious aspirations of the Kingdom, in line with the Kingdom’s future 2030 vision in the field of research, development and innovation.
It is worth noting that at the end of the second quarter of the current year 2023 AD, it was announced that the heads of research councils in the Middle East and North Africa region, members of the World Research Council, unanimously approved the re-election of the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia, represented by the President of the King Abdulaziz City for Science and Technology, Dr. Mounir bin Mahmoud Al-Desouki, As Chairman of the Research Councils Committee in the Middle East and North Africa region of the World Research Council, during the eleventh annual meeting of the World Research Council, which was hosted by the Kingdom of the Netherlands in The Hague.
The annual meetings of the Council represent one of the largest global forums for member research councils supporting scientific research at the world level, during which topics of common interest are discussed and statements of principles that reflect the views of the Council’s member research councils are approved, as well as the approval of recommendations related to the follow-up activities that are implemented by the Council.
