Mr. Adel bin Abdul Rahman Al-Asoumi, Speaker of the Arab Parliament, affirmed the position of the Arab Parliament in support of the unity of Libya, its territorial integrity, and the lack of external interference in its internal affairs, stressing that the Libyan consensus on holding presidential and legislative elections will have a decisive role in achieving security, stability and development in the country.
This came during his meeting with the Permanent Representative of Libya to the League of Arab States, His Excellency Ambassador Abdul Muttalib Idris Thabet.
Al-Asoumi expressed his confidence in the Libyan parties’ upholding the country’s highest interest in order to achieve the aspirations of the Libyan people for security, peace, stability and development. At the same time, he appreciated the efforts made by the Arab countries in this regard and their tireless pursuit of settling the Libyan crisis through the paths of a political solution.
For his part, the Permanent Representative of Libya to the League of Arab States appreciated the important role played by the Arab Parliament, headed by Al-Asoumi, in supporting stability in Libya at all Arab, regional and international levels, praising the parliamentary diplomacy led by the Arab Parliament in supporting and strengthening joint Arab action.
