On January 23 and 24, 2024, the golden sands of Bidiya in the North Al Sharqiyah Governorate will host the launch of the first Oman Desert Tourism Forum, in order to enhance economic mobility and stimulate tourism. A number of senior officials in the investment and tourism sectors, officials of travel and tourism companies, desert camps, and project owners related to the desert winter season will participate in it.
The idea of holding the forum – the first of its kind – aims to build real partnerships to benefit from the tourism components for which desert tourism is famous in the Sultanate of Oman, especially the eastern sands, which are an important tourist destination, as desert tourism represents one of the important and sustainable strategic sectors of the national economy.
In its first edition, the Oman Desert Tourism Forum will work to highlight the tourism components, the cultural and historical heritage, the diversity of tourism patterns enjoyed by the Oman Desert, and its importance as a tourist attraction for tourists locally and from various countries of the world.
It is worth noting that the forum’s working sessions will address several topics, including a working paper entitled “Investment Opportunities in Desert Tourism,” a working paper titled “Legislation and Laws in Desert Tourism,” and a working paper on the reality of desert tourism and its cultural and social dimensions.
