The Arab League stands in solidarity with the Somali government in rejecting and condemning the Ethiopia-Somaliland agreement.

The official spokesman for the Secretary-General of the League of Arab States expressed his rejection and condemnation of any memorandums of understanding that violate or violate the sovereignty of the Somali state, or that attempt to take advantage of the fragility of the Somali internal situation or the faltering ongoing Somali negotiations between the Somali people regarding the relationship of the Somali regions with the federal government, by deducting part From the territory of Somalia in violation of the rules and principles of international law, and in a way that threatens the territorial integrity of the Somali state as a whole.

Jamal Rushdie said that the Arab League fully stands in solidarity with the decision of the Somali Council of Ministers, which considered the memorandum of understanding for partnership and cooperation signed on January 1, 2024 between the Federal Republic of Ethiopia and “Somaliland” null and void and unacceptable, and that it represents a clear violation of the sovereignty and territorial integrity of the Federal Republic of Somalia. The spokesman warned of the seriousness of the impact of this step on the spread of extremist ideas at a time when the Somali state is making huge efforts to confront them.
