The Indonesian Cross and the Egyptian Red Crescent sign a memorandum of understanding to send aid to Gaza

Today, Thursday, the Embassy of the Republic of Indonesia in Cairo witnessed the signing of a memorandum of understanding between the Indonesian Red Cross and the Egyptian Red Crescent regarding cooperation in purchasing and sending humanitarian aid to the Palestinian people in Gaza, worth 700,000 US dollars.

According to a statement issued by the Embassy of the Republic of Indonesia in Cairo, through the memorandum of understanding, the Egyptian Red Crescent will provide assistance to the Indonesian Red Cross in purchasing and sending aid goods from Egypt to the Gaza area. The assistance consists of food, drinking water, clothing, blankets, hygiene supplies, medicines, and ambulances.

From November 6 to 22, 2023, the Embassy of the Republic of Indonesia in Cairo facilitated the distribution of humanitarian aid from the government and people of Indonesia, with a total of 72 tons of aid sent using five aircraft through Al-Arish Airport in cooperation with the Egyptian Red Crescent, the Palestinian Red Crescent and UNRWA.

During the period from November to December 2023, the Indonesian Embassy in Cairo also facilitated the signing of a memorandum of understanding between the Egyptian Red Crescent and humanitarian bodies and institutions from Indonesia such as the Indonesian National Zakat Authority, the NBC Foundation and the IHA Foundation to supply and send humanitarian aid to the people. Palestinian with a total value of more than one million US dollars.

She pointed out that there are other Indonesian humanitarian institutions that deliver their aid to the Palestinian people through Egypt, which are the “LASIS NU” Foundation, the “LASIS MU” Foundation, the “LASIS ASFA” Foundation, the “Ramah Zakat” Foundation, the “Salaam ID” Foundation, and the “Lasies Foundation” Sadaqah Nusentara, the Suklah Rilwan Foundation, the DT Bedoli Foundation, the FPAG Foundation, and the Hands Foundation, and the total aid provided by the government and people of Indonesia through Egypt currently amounts to about 910 tons worth 6.42 million US dollars.
