The Emir of Qatar, Sheikh Tamim bin Hamad Al Thani received the documents of Sheikh Zayed bin Khalifa bin Sultan Al Nahyan, the UAE’s ambassador to Doha.

The Emirates News Agency (WAM) reported that Sheikh Zayed bin Khalifa is the first ambassador since the Gulf reconciliation in 2021, noting that the ambassador sent the greetings of the UAE’s President Mohammed bin Zayed and his deputy, Sheikh Mohammed bin Rashid, and their wishes for his country and people to continue growth and development.

According to the same source, the Emir of Qatar expressed his wishes to the new ambassador for the UAE government and people to continue development and prosperity, wishing him success in his tasks in a way that contributes to strengthening bilateral relations in various fields.

In July 2023, Sheikh Tamim bin Hamad Al Thani decided to appoint an ambassador to the UAE for the first time since 2017.

Qatar News Agency (QNA) said that Sheikh Tamim bin Hamad Al Thani, the Emir of the country, issued Decision No. 57 of 2023 appointing Dr. Sultan Salemin Saeed Al Mansouri as ambassador to the United Arab Emirates. The decision was to be implemented and applied from the date of its issuance and to be published in the official newspaper.

In June 2023, Qatar and the UAE announced the resumption of diplomatic representation between them and their embassies.

The Qatari Foreign Ministry announced: “Based on the Al-Ula Agreement and the joint keenness of the two countries to strengthen bilateral relations, Qatar and the United Arab Emirates announce the restoration of diplomatic representation between them by resuming the work of the Qatari embassy in Abu Dhabi and its consulate in Dubai and the UAE embassy in Doha.”

For the UAE side, the UAE Foreign Ministry announced that the two sides confirmed that “this step comes in embodiment of the will of the leaderships of the two countries and enhances the process of joint Arab action in a way that achieves the aspirations of the two fraternal peoples.”
